The Role of Hippocampal and Neocortical Theta-Gamma Phase Amplitude Coupling in Multimodal Episodic Memory

hippocampus-inline_invert.jpg

This upcoming research project seeks to investigate the neurological foundations of episodic memory, particularly how multimodal sensory inputs are combined into a unified percept for future recall. Through audio-visual paired associate learning memory tasks, the research will collect and analyze neuroelectric and behavioral data. A major emphasis will be placed on theta-gamma cross-frequency coupling dynamics and hippocampal activation, while also providing opportunities to explore a range of other neurological and behavioral phenomena.

The Effects of Alpha Rhythm Monaural Beat Stimulation on Electroencephalographic Activity and Skin Conductance Level

Auditory beat stimulation shows potential as a safe, non-invasive method of neuromodulation. This study investigates the effects of 10Hz monaural beat stimulation on electroencephalographic activity and skin conductance. Participants experienced alternating periods of stimulation and a control condition. Findings indicate notable localized differences in alpha power between the two conditions, suggesting a change in brain activity during the stimulation. Results are currently being drafted for publication
